In partnership with Coastal Carolina University, LHS students have the opportunity to earn college credit while exploring the teaching profession. Teacher Cadet students must apply for the program during the Spring of their Junior year. These students participate in a semester-long course at the start of their senior year. These students study and practice elementary pedagogy and participate in internships at local elementary and middle schools. These students are given multiple leadership opportunities, including: guiding campus tours for and speaking to LMS 8th graders, assisting with school-sponsored events, and reading to elementary school students. Students who successfully complete this program are eligible for induction into the National Teacher Cadet Honor Society.
