Extended Learning Options

Ext. Options will begin October 8th this year and will be held every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon.

We will continue to provide bus transportation both Tuesdays and Thursdays. 
   
The time will be from 3:30-4:30 this year.
 
We are also going to add a social studies tutor one day and a science tutor one day .
 
Testing is going to be available both Tuesdays and Thursdays.
 
Attendance makeup will also be part of the ext. options program as in the past.
The media center computer lab will also be open on both Tuesdays and Thursdays.

 

Program Objectives

  • To promote a higher level of accomplishments for students who require additional assistance.
  • To provide more opportunities for success using educational technology.
  • To prepare students to enter the next level of educational or career endeavor.
  • To promote student progression on the continuum of achievement.

 

 

 

 

 

Program Description

 The program provides extended learning opportunities for students beyond regular school hours. During the program, students, based on individual needs, will have an opportunity to:

Homework Program

  • receive instruction on academic subjects
  • receive help with homework
  • make up class assignments/tests
  • work on projects, and
  • utilize the media center as well as the media center computer lab

Attendance Make-Up Program

  • make up time missed in regular classes

Tutorial

  • receive individualized help with a particular area of need.

 
EXTENDED OPTIONS GUIDELINES

  • Students must notify their teachers that they are planning to stay after school to make up assignments and/or an abscence. Students must get the assignments from the teacher, students must have these assignments with them when they report to the media center and work on them the entire time.
  • For the attendance component, students will not be admitted after 3:25PM.
  • No student will be admitted to the media center after 3:40 unless they have a note from a teacher stating that they were with that teacher and the time.
  • Students wanting to use the computers must bring a note from a teacher stating exactly what the student is working on. Stating that the student is working on a "project" is not sufficient.
  • Abscences for tardies and cutting classes cannot be made up.
  • It is the responsibility of the student to arrange for transportation. The second time the student is not off campus by 5:10PM, the student will not be eligible to participate in the Extended Options Program.


 SATURDAY SCHOOL HOURS
8:00am UNTIL 2:00pm


  • Students must notify teachers by the Tuesday before Saturday School. Students must get the assignment from the teachers and bring them when they report to Saturday School. Students mustwork on assignments the entire time they are in Saturday School. Students are responsible for turning in assignments.
  • Students sign in by 8:00AM on Saturday with the coordinator. Students will not be admitted after 8:00AM.
  • Students sign out with the Saturday School coordinator before leaving. Once a student signs out, he/she cannot sign ack in and must leave campus.
  • In order to make up an abscence for one block, the student must stay from 8:00AM until 9:30AM; two blocks, from  8:00AM until 11:00AM; three blocks, from 8:00AM until 12:30PM; four blocks, from 8:00AM until 2:00PM.
  • Students may bring lunch or purchase from vending machines. Safety concerns preclude food delivery or access to the building by anyone but students.
